a survey

A survey I stole from Shmuel, a writer I discovered on the HoliDailies ring. I never do these things because almost all of them have been circulating for years and they're just tired, but this one isn't the usual yadda yadda.

Name: Kat

Address: Portland, Oregon.

Nike or Adidas: Actually, it's adidas, lowercase. I only know this because I work in advertising and Portland is headquarters for some division of adidas (adidas America, I think). And of course, Portland is world headquarters for Nike. Oh. I still didn't answer the question. I prefer adidas only because they have better arch support for my flat feet.

Sneakers or boots: Boots. Oh, yes, boots. Definitely.

Pull over or zipper up: Pull over. Now if you said "button up," that would be a different story.

Long or short: Short. I used to be long and I'll never go back.

Black or white: Black. Who does white?

Hot or cold: Hot. Who does cold?

Night or day: Day. I wish I was a Night, I really do, but I'm a day. *sigh*

Alone or in a crowd: Alone, but I still need the crowd. Isn't this how they got the saying "Alone in a crowd?"

Math or English: Wow. This one has me stumped. I think this the story of my life: Am I Math or English? I can't choose. I need both to survive.

Pen or pencil: Pen. Usually a plain-old Paper Mate medium point in blue will due. But I love my sparkly Gelly Rolls, too, for special writing.

Cursive or print: Print, I guess. I certainly don't write in cursive, but I learned italics as a kid in the fifth grade so my writing is a little more than just common print. I mean, I'm not bragging or anything, just saying. I do get compliments on my handwriting.

The book or the movie: Okay. It just so happens that Jette wrote a piece about this very topic. Those of us who read and love movies can never answer this outright (I can't answer many of these questions outright, can I?). But, if you forced me I'd have to say...the book. It just usually goes that way.

Live or on TV: Live. Even if it's fiction. Wouldn't you rather be on the set and watch your favorite TV show being shot?

Tape or CD: CD. Although 15 years ago that wouldn't have been my answer. I hated CDs when they first came out.

MTV or VH1: Why bother with either?

Cats or dogs: Uh, do you have to ask?

Quiet or loud: Quiet. But, um, no one would ever describe me as quiet.

Love or lust: If I had to make a choice I would always choose love. It's more complete. I've had lust without love, or even like, and after a while it feels like a yeast infection--highly irritating and you just want it to go away so you can get on with your life. But, love without even a little lust would make me do stupid, destructive things if it went on too long. I'm not proud of that.

Up or down: Down, baby. Down.

Inside or outside: Outside. Get me outside.

Pepsi or Coke: Coke. I really do taste the difference.

Soda or juice: Juice. We don't have soda in the Northwest. It's called Pop.

Fruits or vegetables: Veggies.

Apples or oranges: Apples. Granny Smith to be specific.

Vanilla or chocolate: Chocolate.

Dandelions or daffodils: Are you kidding? Daffodils. I fucking hate dandelions.

Winter or summer: Summer. But Winter is better for me. It forces me to look deep inside and get honest with myself. Summer is for throwing caution to the wind and taking chances without a thought to tomorrow.

Sunday or Friday: Friday. A little like the relationship between Winter and Summer. Sunday is for getting shit done while you still can. Friday is for gin and tonics.
